Global Smartphone Market:

According to IDC, Huawei is one of the fastest growing smartphone brands in the world, has achieved second position in the global smartphone market with a total share of 15.8% in the second quarter of 2018.

China’s Huawei pulled ahead of Apple in the second quarter of 2018, recording the second largest position in global smartphone shipments behind South Korea’s Samsung.

Market research company IDC said that “Total shipments of Huawei is Fifty Four Point Two (54.2) million phones in Q2-18, 41% higher than the year-ago period, passing the iPhone manufacturer for the first time”.

“The continued growth of Huawei is impressive, to say the least, as is its ability to move into markets where, until recently, the brand was largely unknown,” said Ryan Reith, program vice president with IDC’s Worldwide Mobile Device Trackers. “It is worth noting that Apple moved into the top position each of the last two holiday quarters following its product refresh, so it’s likely we’ll see continued movement among the top ranked companies in 2018 and beyond. For most markets, the ultra-high end ($700+) competition is largely some combination of Apple, Samsung, and Huawei, depending on the geography, and this is unlikely to change much in the short term. At the same time, Xiaomi, OPPO, and vivo are all slowly pushing their customer base upstream at a price tier slightly lower than the top three. This is an area they should all watch closely as the builds in this segment are getting increasingly more advanced.”

In Sri Lanka, Huawei has succeeded in securing the number one position in smartphone sales according to recent GfK reports (Growth from Knowledge). Poised as the most preferred smartphone brand among Sri Lankan consumers. The main objective of  Huawei is to enhance the lifestyle of all users by offering the best quality state of the art smartphones at an affordable price.

In the first half year, its flagship product P20 Pro with the world’s first triple camera takes the highest score of the mobile review from world’s most authoritative image quality company DxO Mark. Huawei also partnered with luxury brand Porsche Design on Mate series Porsche Design edition, which helps to gain great feedback from the ultra-high-end market.
