Instagram shoppable app:

The most popular photo-sharing platform Instagram might be working on a Instagram shoppable app of its own.

The photo-sharing app, Instagram, would have been worth more than $100 billion if it was a standalone company, Bloomberg reported.

According to reports Instagram might be making its move towards the ecommerce side world as it reportedly is working on an application called IG Shopping that would allow the general users of this platform to browse different products from the businesses they follow and make purchases right from within the application.

To make the case more credible, the sources state that the social media is also looking for a Product Marketing Manager for Shopping, possibly to facilitate the roll-out of this new application. It might be worth mentioning here that the proposed application is still in its development phases and the release date for the application is not known yet. Instagram might cancel the project if it doesn’t seem to be feasible.

There exist as much as 25 million business accounts which might be interested in selling their products to its more than a billion users and Instagram has already been exploring this option a lot. Quite recently Instagram rolled out shopping tools in some countries to allow businesses to display their products. Later, it also added functionality for making bookings at some restaurants from within the application.

Instagram also joined the league of YouTube by introducing its video hub, IGTV. With IGTV, the viewers would be able to watch hour-long videos from different content creators they would be following. Speaking of which, the followed accounts on Instagram would automatically get followed on the new service. Moreover, the users would have various sections to browse like ‘For You,’ ‘Following,’ ‘Popular’ and ‘Continue Watching.’
