Prices of Electricity Reduces by NEPRA
Upon the advice of Central Power Purchase Agency (CPPA), NEPRA approved lowering the electricity price by Rs. 1.86 per unit. The price has been reduced in the monthly fuel adjustment charges. CPPA had actually recommended lowering the price by Rs. 2.62 but due to the implementation of the Gas Infrastructure Development Surcharge, relief of 76 paisas per unit could not be passed on to the public.
On the other hand, NEPRA has approved charging the consumers for Gas Infrastructure Development Surcharge. An overall Rs. 11 billion will be charged from the consumers under this surcharge. Consumers will be charged this amount for the months from January 2013 to April 2015. The surcharge will be charged under the fuel adjustment charges in monthly electricity bills.
National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has on Friday reduced electricity price by Rs. 1.86 per unit. However, Gas Infrastructure Development Surcharge has also been imposed upon the common people of the country for 27 months, reported Dunya News.
